The Rod

Okuma SST 8’6″, medium-heavy action 10-25 pound line, 2-piece rod with a carbon fiber grip. It will give you the power to battle big salmon and bring them to the net, yet the SST blank gives a good amount of feel so you can pick up on those subtle mooching bites.

The Reel

Okuma Coldwater size 20 is compact in the hand, but has enough line capacity for nearly all the mooching situations you’ll find yourself in. We like the reel for its reliable line counter, smooth drag, and corrosion resistance. Select your preference of right-hand or left-hand retrieve.

The Line

We spool up this combo with P-Line CX-Premium Hi-Visability 20 pound copolymer. The reel holds about 200 yards.
