Those are some serious features, and they dont tell the full story about these all machined aluminum framed,sideplate, rotor, spool beasts. These are powerful spinning reels like none other on the market they are more like tanks than coffee grinders! Okuma took the fine points of their industry leading Makaira conventional reels and put em on a spinning! The Makaira drag system is unique, takes advantage of the complete surface area of the carbon fiber drag washers; making full contact with the carbon washers for maximum efficiency and drag output. The DFD (dual force drag concept) applies pressure to both sides of the spool in order to maximize use of the available surface area. Enlarging the working surfaces of the drag system dramatically improves heat dissipation. These reels are engineered to withstand the harshest conditions the ocean can offer. Makaira spinning reels have 23 different oil retaining o-rings and gaskets, water tight, all the internal mechanisms are sealed and protected from salt.
