These long, webby feathers are in the 5-7 inch length range. Schlappen is a staple in many spey and saltwater flies. They can be used as tails on saltwater flies, with a bulky profile and undulation in the water. These are useful for building the body on flies like the classic Sedotti Slammer invented by Mark Sedotti. They can also be wrapped around the hook shank to create the head of the classic “semper fleye” pattern created by Bob Popovics.
