The 600N SPJ Valiant is a newer size in their lineup which fills the role in both the ultra deep SPJ style and the day/night time tuna speed jigging. For slow pitch these are about as big as it gets, holding over 1600m of PE2.0 and 1100m of PE3.0 giving you a lot of capacity and plenty of retrieve even when fishing down to over 1500 feet. It is slightly harder to guide the line back on since it’s a wider reel but the capacity is very useful.

For tuna jigging these are sweet, you’ll get over 30lbs of drag which should be enough to stop most of the bluefin and about 600 yards of PE6.0 line which breaks into the 90lb range. This is a great sweet spot reel between day and night fishing since it isn’t too big to handle but also not too small to land the bigger fish.

None of the SPJ models come with a clicker which may more more useful on these larger sizes although it can get in the way when palming the reel. For heavier jigs we can even order these reels with a longer 110mm or 120mm handle arm which will reduce the winding load when you’re jigging, but it does come at a small upcharge. These reels come withno clamp but that shouldn’t be a problem since all jigging rods have a reel seat.
