Designed in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado, the 20 Incher Stone Fly was originally invented to imitate stonefly nymphs, and with its split biot tail, chunky ribbed peacock herl body, pronounced wingcase, and webby legs, it does a fine job at that. A large and calorie-rich food source, stoneflies are one of the biggest aquatic insects around, so this is a fly that can be fished in a size 8 without a fret, and its a great choice whether worked into a multi-nymph rig or just rolling the bottom.

The 20 Incher Stone Fly is one that you can fish every day of the year, but it excels in the spring season whenever stonefly nymphs are most active and then again in the winter whenever trout are looking for large, easy meals.
