UC has been making Wicked Tuna style rods for a while now, the heavier of which have been used on the Fish Hawk, The Falcon and other commercial tuna boats around the country. These are not rods for the typical angler, theyre long and have enough power to let you pull on the biggest of tuna while still being able to get them in quick. Paired up with the right reel, these rods can tackle just about any fish that swims in the ocean. The heavier two models (Invictus and Gladiator) come in at 96 to clear engines and give you the most pulling power once a heavy unibutt is added. The lighter Viper is a bit shorter at 79 so it is more manageable and could be used for the local bluefin in Southern and now Northern California.
UC uses heavy duty components like the Alps 130lb class ball bearing rollers which are top of the line, along with a #4 Alps butt that can fit the biggest of all reels. All of these rods are made to order only so the delay can be up to 6 months or more depending on component availability since the rollers can be out of stock quite often. That being said these rods are well worth waiting for if youre looking for a commercial style rod that can pull on just about anything.
